Substance Never Goes Out Of Style.

Point A

Its is my pleasure to inform you all that these three gentlemen are official models of the Dudley Blumsfield fall campaign. They exemplify the true meaning of “Substance within style” in their ever day lives no matter the weather. Pivoted on the east coast than stretched to the pebble streets of France these gentlemen display the perfect depiction of what I see every day. Living each journey while expressing the way they feel through selfless displays of stylistic emotion.

A visit from an old friend/los Angeles, CA

Welcome back to Los Angeles, CA

Out-in-about on Robertson a few days ago I spotted a bed of colourful flowers that some how matched DeVons bright red pants(which I could never wear). The dark elements of his skin, blazer, tie, briefcase, boots, and umbrella seem to correspond to natures much-needed soil. His sprouting pocket square seem to be the perfect balance and symbolism of seed to full bloom. Substance within style is every thing……..

I saw this gentlemen wearing an amazing red shooters vest the day before and I held a quick cross walk conversation with him. A few days latter I spotted Mr. Joshua Gilman sporting a Sugar Cane x Mister Freedom work/fisher mans vest. The longer we spoke the more we shared and thus came an instant connection which bared no colour line; character recognizes character and style recognizes style.

Introducing

So! as I turned to lock my front door a familiar face appeared into the light. One of my best friends from college DeVon Drakkar Lane Simmons simple stated “I’m back in LA and with nowhere to stay.” Being a good friend I turned my back and quickly started to walked away(lol just joking), I gave him the signature hand shake and tossed that brown duffel into the pad. While being skyped via Milan for castings or posing for Levi Strauss and 3sixteen mr. Simmons will be one of the two official models for Dudley Blumsfield(my work). I’m excited to see where this year carries us.

Fully Vintage

When you see some one and their style just screams “PAY ATTENTION” in a subtle manner your eye naturally picks it up. This JCrew kids designer from the east coast encompasses that all the way. I chatted with him for a few and to my surprise his pants that I adored were simply old Wal-Mart Carhart supply . Some thing about clothing that’s meant to be “lived” in attracts me like a fly to those blue  lanterns.

Mister style

So if you’ve ever talked style icons with me you’ll know Steve McQueen has a pretty strong power ranking in my book. Classic style mixed with an out going personality gives him the perfect combination of soft and hard with out loosing his masculinity. McQueen portrays what a man should look like as he grows in life and style. When I ran across this book I frantically picked it up, marched toward the cash register, and handed over the plastic. I snatched the last copy….had to get it. The imagery, clothing, and every activity he partakes are all adits that help me produce some of my best works……guess you’ll just have to wait and see.

DORK

My home slice Dork took time out of his busy schedule to stop by the work station and say “Hi”. You’ve probability seen him hitting the streets with Will.I.AM or even in  Adidas x Jeremy Scott commercials. Well if you don’t know him now take time to remember this kids face. I decided to sit hit down and toss a few questions his way…..heres how it turned out.

That Denim GUy talks w/ CurT@!n$

When first meeting this gentlemen back in 2007/ 08 I could tell he was a man of good taste, style, and character but he also has something to say. With an unmistakable New York swagger this man of many talents CurT@!n$ is one of todays front-runners in hip hops “generation next” freshmen class. Constantly on the move some how I snagged a chance to pick the brain of the man behind the CurT@!n$.

How do you feel your music differs from other young hip hop artist of today?

C$ Hmmm… I think in the grand scheme of things I blend the past and future into one sound. My aggressive approach and my voice set me apart also. My personality shines through the track a lot brighter than most.

What inspires some of the subject matter within music?

C$ My subject matter comes from a place of reflection. I look around my environment and that gives me the fuel to write music. Most of my songs stem from personal and/or 2nd hand experiences. Even the shit talking “flossy” songs have some deeper meaning. Man I’m just inspired by life in general.

Describe your typical fan?

C$ My typical fan is an individual who cannot and refuses to be boxed in. My fan is blind to all stereotypes placed upon society. My fan has a free mind and is open and ready to bring about change.

Are you interested in working with other artist outside the hip hop & R&B genres?

C$ Yes most definitely I’m interested in working with artists from many genres. I’m into the indie rock sound, pop, reggae, rock, alternative. I’m a music lover so I def want to branch out and blend sounds to create something magical.

If you got the opportunity to change one thing within/or about the music industry what would it by? and why?

C$ I would change the concept of ownership. When artist get record deals they usually walk away with little to no ownership of their music. After advances stop, an artists stream of money becomes very slim. A song has no lifeline, but an artists revenue does. There should be mandatory clauses in contracts where artists walk away with reasonable portions of their catalogs. I would also make It mandatory for health benefits to be incorporated into artists deals. Artist work for record companies the way a bus driver works for the city, health is an important issue that is not covered by these record companies to help artists in time of need.

Stick around guys I’ll be posting part two of this interview within the month……some exciting things to come!

Transit Visits

If you’ve ever seen me around the city you probably noticed that I don’t own a car. I’m more on a “all I need are these heels, grip tape, and four wheels” kinda guy. With that I get the opportunity to hang around different styles of people though out my day, so when gentlemen like this step foot unto famous orange city buses I tend to take notice. The texture of stripes on his collard shirt, tie, and suit intrigued me. He’s clean-shaven and reading a book about the stock market….hmmmm, Who is this guy? Where is he going? Why the green bag? Can he see me taking this picture…lol? Just some things that scan across my mind.
